Visitors travel to Pond Inlet, Nunavut to begin this exciting land-based trip. Located on the northern tip of Baffin Island, Pond Inlet is surrounded by mountains, fjords and breathtaking scenery. After arriving in Pond Inlet participants travel by snow machine to the floe edge, where a base-camp will be established. Like many programs in the north, weather plays a major role in what visitors will see or be able to do at any given time. Snow machines and komatiks (snow sleds) will be used to transport equipment. Under constant daylight of the midnight sun, traveling to 'the edge' provides the opportunity to enjoy glaciers, mountains, ancient Thule campsites, and a chance to see a variety of Arctic wildlife.
